Spicy Tuna Avocado Wraps

Put an end to sad desk lunches with this recipe for healthy spicy tuna avocado wraps! Even if you have a busy schedule, you can easily set aside five minutes to make this delicious snack using nutritious ingredients like tuna, carrots, and avocados.

Avocados are a healthier alternative for typical wrap ingredients such as mayo, which is greasy and contains more calories.

Tuna is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that boost heart health by balancing the blood vessels, which then helps reduce cholesterol in your arteries. This allows your heart to efficiently pump blood through your body.

Tuna is also a good source of potassium that helps lower blood pressure. The combination of omega-3s and potassium in tuna provides an anti-inflammatory effect that boosts heart health and lowers blood pressure, stroke, and heart attack risk.

As a bonus, eating tuna helps promote weight loss. Since tuna is full of proteins and nutrients yet low in fat, it’s a healthier choice compared to fast food and snacks from the office vending machine.

Ingredients for 4 servings

  • 2 (5 oz) cans of tuna, drained
  • 2 heaping cups lettuce leaves
  • 1 cup matchstick/julienned carrots
  • 2–3 tbsp celery, chopped
  • 2 tbsp sriracha
  • 2 tbsp red onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 (10-inch) whole wheat tortillas

Preparation

  1. Mash the tuna and avocado until combined in a medium-sized bowl. Add the celery, sriracha, red onion, cilantro, Dijon mustard, and green onions. Mix well and add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Divide the tuna mixture evenly among the wraps.
  3. Top each tortilla with half a cup of leafy greens and ¼ cup of the matchstick carrots.
  4. Tightly roll up the tortilla and slice before serving.

Make these spicy tuna avocado wraps ahead of time so you can have an enjoyable work lunch that’s also good for your heart health.
